CPOE adoption can save time, money

Cost and work-flow issues appear to be some reasons why only about 10% of hospitals surveyed have fully implemented computerized physician-order entry systems. However, research in Massachusetts points out that the payback of a CPOE system just from reducing medication errors far outweighs its initial cost. CPOE also can take 20% to 40% less time than a paper system does once people are trained in its use.
