More older adults have sleep issues

Research shows insomnia affects almost half of adults aged 60 and older, which can increase their risk of obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Experts say sleeping patterns may change with age, but disturbed sleep is not normal. Medications and illness can affect sleep for older adults, along with obstructive sleep apnea and restless legs syndrome.
