South Dakota bridge project delayed due to high costs

Plans to rehabilitate a historic steel truss bridge in Chamberlain, S.D., have been delayed after bids came in higher than engineers had estimated. Work on the bridge, which crosses the Missouri River, was expected to begin this spring, but the lowest of three bids that came in was $26.204 million, well above the $20.723 million estimated for the project.
