German firm lands contract to build Qatar mixed-use project

Germany's Hochtief Construction has received a contract to build a $1.7 billion mixed-use development in Qatar. Barwa Real Estate, which comprises private investors and the government of Qatar, United Arab Emirates, is funding the project. The project, dubbed Barwa Commercial Avenue, will be about five miles long and about 9.7 million square feet, and include retail, residential units and office space.
