National Teacher of the Year to be honored by Obama

Connecticut special-education teacher Anthony Mullen has been named National Teacher of the Year and will be honored during a White House ceremony today. Mullen was selected in part for his ability to connect with his students. "He establishes rapport with students who have not been able to develop relationships with other adults in school, and in many cases, at home as well," wrote Sharon Turshen, Greenwich's assistant director of pupil personnel services, in a statement.
