SEC takes aim at murky hedges, muni securities

The Securities and Exchange Commission is targeting active hedge funds for irregularities in credit-default swaps and other derivatives. SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro said her office is pursuing an additional two dozen active investigations of municipal securities tainted by possible arbitrage fraud, corruption by public officials and lack of reporting transparency.
