Pediatric ulcerative colitis cases are increasing in Northern Calif.

A recent study found that the cases of ulcerative colitis among children in Northern California increased from 1.8 per 100,000 in 1996 to 4.9 per 100,000 in 2006. The reason for the increase remains unclear, but the changing demographics in the area could be a contributing factor, according to the study's lead researcher.
