School-based health clinic opens in Louisiana district

Students at two schools in Louisiana's St. Charles Parish can get their teeth cleaned or receive medical checkups during the school day at a new school-based health clinic. Students must have permission slips signed by parents to be treated at the Albert Cammon Wellness Center -- one of 70 school-based clinics across the state -- and all students are eligible for services even if they lack medical insurance. "We'll be able to take the services that are provided by the school nurse to the next level," the center's director said.
