Unemployment prompts boomers to file for early retirement

Social Security applications are up 20% this year, ahead of the 15% predicted by government officials. "That's a significant amount," said Jason Fichtner, chief economist at the Social Security Administration. Unemployment has prompted more baby boomers than initially anticipated to apply for Social Security benefits.
