China's yuan reaches an 18-year high against U.S. dollar:

China's yuan broke 6.5 against the U.S. dollar and headed toward its seventh consecutive week of gain. The surge drove the currency to its highest level against the dollar since 1993, when China unified its market and exchange rate, the China Foreign Exchange Trade System said. There is speculation that China's central bank will allow the yuan to strengthen further to slow an increase in consumer prices, analysts said.
