Tentative ruling will let economic-loss claims against Toyota proceed

The claims of Toyota owners who say they suffered economic losses because of sudden-acceleration problems in Toyota's cars should be allowed to go forward, according to a federal judge's tentative ruling. "Taking these allegations [of sudden acceleration] as true, as the court must at the pleading stage, they establish an economic loss. A vehicle with a defect is worth less than one without a defect," U.S. District Judge James Selna ruled.
