Corporate earnings and rising expectations of a European Central Bank rate cut made for a strong week on European stock markets, with the Stoxx Europe 600 ending the week at 295.89, up 3.7% despite a 0.33% decline Friday. In the U.S., earnings were not as strong, and lower-than-expected first-quarter growth weighed on shares Friday. The S&P 500 finished the week at 1,582.24, down 0.18% on the day.
