Bill supporting telemedicine clears Fla. House

The Florida House has passed a bill designed to expand access to care by reducing supervision requirements for nurse practitioners and expanding use of telemedicine. Proponents say the bill will help address a physician shortage in the state by offering more care to more people and that it will ultimately cut health care costs. Telemedicine has gained ground in Florida for such applications as rapidly getting multiple consults in acute care situations and improving access to specialists in rural areas.
