Hospitals face challenges keeping nursing staff, exec says

Hospitals need to create healthy work environments to retain their nursing workforces as opportunities outside the hospital setting expand, according to API Healthcare Vice President of Nursing Karlene Kerfoot. While hospitals should consider staffing levels and opportunities for professional development to help keep nurses from leaving for other jobs, they also will continue to be training sites for nurses, she said.
