House bill would require passenger planes to transmit GPS data

House Rep. Steve Stockman, R-Texas, has proposed a bill that would require passenger planes to transmit GPS data, allowing air traffic controllers to accurately pinpoint their locations. The proposed legislation comes in the wake of the March 8 disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which has been the subject of an intense international search that has so far proven unsuccessful.
