N.J. nurse earns doctorate to set professional example

Aline Holmes, senior vice president of clinical affairs for the New Jersey Hospital Association, will earn her doctorate in nursing practice in May, at age 67, as a way to encourage nurses to pursue higher education and move forward in their careers. "I wanted to convey to all nurses that you can't just stop after nursing school. Health care changes rapidly and a lifelong education is an ethical and moral obligation of a nurse," she said.
