TBM Brenda to begin work on Seattle's $2.1B Northgate extension project

The 21-foot diameter tunnel-boring machine named Brenda -- made by the same company that built Bertha -- is set to begin tunneling for the city's $2.1 billion Northgate extension project. Brenda is more than 300-feet long, and is one of three borers that will bore a 4.3-mile light-rail tunnel from Husky Stadium to Northgate. The project is slated to be completed in 2021, and, according to this article, Brenda has a "proven track record."
