Deutsche Bank reports $398 million quarterly loss

For the first time in five years, Deutsche Bank has posted a quarterly loss. Germany's biggest bank revealed an additional $4 billion in write-downs along with its report of a pretax, first-quarter loss of $398 million. A year ago, the bank posted a quarterly pretax profit of more than $4.7 billion. Deutsche Bank was believed to have avoided the worst of the financial crisis, but looks increasingly vulnerable.
