EMarketer projects that 130 million U.S. Internet users will consume user-generated content in 2012, up from 94 million in 2007. These numbers represent mass-market proportions, rising to 60% of U.S. Internet users in 2012, from 50% in 2007. User-generated content advertising includes only promotions placed around the content itself. As a result, spending will be about 10% of the amount spent on online social networks and online video.
