Environmental impact statement for high-speed rail approved

Plans for a $4 billion, privately funded, high-speed rail service between Southern Nevada and California are moving ahead, marking a major milestone when the federal government approved the project's environmental impact statement. Meanwhile, investors have already pumped $25 million into the project, called DesertXpress Enterprises. Building the rail line could create 3,000 construction jobs, officials say.
