First swine flu death reported in U.S.

The CDC today reported the death of a 23-month-old child in Texas from swine flu complications, the first U.S. death linked to the outbreak. Experts still are trying to understand why the disease has been more severe in Mexico than in other regions. Meanwhile, cases of swine flu have been reported for the first time in Germany, and the World Health Organization called for an emergency meeting to consider its pandemic alert level.
