Minority patients lack full understanding of diabetes

A survey of 151 minority patients with Type 2 diabetes found 1 in 3 thought their physician could cure their disease or didn't understand it was a chronic condition. The study showed most didn't know about the hemoglobin A1C test to gauge long-term blood glucose control. Researchers said the responses represent opportunities for health care providers to target barriers to successful diabetes management.
