Ann Taylor's blog outreach draws FTC scrutiny

Retailer Ann Taylor conducted a promotional outreach to bloggers in advance of launching its 2010 summer collection, offering gift cards valued at $50 to $500 to bloggers who posted about its fashion preview. The FTC investigated and while it isn't taking action, the news of the probe is being viewed by many as a guide to how the agency plans on enforcing its guidelines requiring bloggers to disclose "material connections" to marketers whose products they review.
