Asian markets mostly fall as concern builds about Europe's woes

Share markets in the Asian-Pacific region mostly were down Thursday, with concern about sovereign debt in Europe weighing on overall sentiment. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 and Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gave up 0.8%, while South Korea's Kospi Composite and Taiwan's Taiex slid 0.3%. China's Shanghai Composite dropped 1.1%, while New Zealand's NZX 50 added 0.1%. India's Sensex gained 0.6% and Singapore's Straits Times Index rose 0.9% in afternoon trading. Japanese markets were closed.
