Prosthetic legs offer hope to disabled pets

Pets and livestock animals with missing limbs can now lead normal lives by undergoing osseointegration orthopedic surgery, a procedure that involves fixing joint prosthetics to the bone. The procedure was first performed on a shepherd mix in July 2008 and is now being practiced by a handful of veterinarians in Europe and the U.S.
