Republicans request investigation into cost of health reform law

House Republicans have called on the Democratic chairmen of four committees to schedule hearings before Memorial Day to investigate whether the health reform law would result in an increase in national health spending. The request comes after Richard Foster, chief actuary at CMS, issued a report saying the new law will boost national spending by 1% over a decade. They also asked the chairmen to permit Foster to testify about the report.
