Slaughterhouse bill in Vermont clears Senate

The Vermont Senate passed a bill Wednesday that would create a Livestock Care Standards Advisory Council that would propose regulations on the proper treatment of animals in the eight slaughterhouses in the state. The measure is aimed at cracking down on inhumane treatment of livestock animals headed for slaughter in the state.
