Study: Pet-food calorie counts and serving sizes vary widely

Pet owners trying to feed their pups a healthy diet and avoid overfeeding need to read food packages carefully, according to a study published in JAVMA. Calorie counts and serving sizes varied greatly between the 44 dog foods and 49 cat foods studied -- so much so that a pet owner could easily end up feeding dogs an additional 200 calories just by switching brands.
