Vet says misuse of flea medications causes problems in pets

The Environmental Protection Agency has moved to toughen regulations on flea and tick medications after receiving complaints about pets' adverse reactions to the drugs. However, an Omaha, Neb., veterinarian said the way owners use the products on their pets is partly to blame for those reactions, adding that EPA's new requirements, such as a detailed product labeling, may help so long as pet owners follow directions.
