Approaching history from the fashion runway

Some students at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, are studying history from an entirely new perspective -- the runway. The class offers lessons on how history influences fashion to prepare the students for jobs in fashion, theater, teaching, museum archiving and historical research. "I talk about what Americans have come to expect of their clothing -- comfort and practicality," said history professor Deirdre Clemente. "And what is that a reaction of? Social, economic and political change."
