Combo therapy better than one drug in children with type 2 diabetes

A treatment that combines diabetes drugs Avandia and metformin is more effective than metformin with lifestyle changes or metformin alone in controlling blood sugar levels, according to a study from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases. Aggressive and early drug therapy could lessen complication risks for kidney failure, heart diseases, nerve damage and blindness, the study suggests.
