Business, consumer confidence ebbs further in eurozone

The cloudy outlook for the eurozone has darkened this month with a steeper-than-expected decline in executive and consumer sentiment. The European Commission index for April is reported at 88.6, down from 90.1 in March, with the gloom extending even to Germany. "Employment plans were revised downwards across business sectors, contrasting with the easing of consumers' unemployment expectations," the report said.
