Calif. schools rally to encourage students ahead of testing

Some California schools soon will begin taking standardized tests, but preparation has been underway for a while, with schools working to prepare academically and work to excite and energize students about the exams. While the test scores do not factor into student grades, the tests are high stakes for schools and teachers. Some schools have held assemblies and pep rallies, offered free breakfast and snacks, and given away prizes, such as passes to Disneyland.
