House, Senate leaders work for overhaul of U.S. tax code

In what could signal a break in the budget logjam on Capitol Hill, the majority Republican leadership in the House of Representatives is shifting its economic focus away from entitlement cuts and toward an overhaul of the federal tax code. Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp, R-Mich., is leading the effort in the House to craft a simpler, fairer tax system. Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, D-Mont., is working on a bipartisan deal in the Senate.
