Reinforcing the distinction between sales and marketing

Some people fail to make a distinction between sales and marketing, including "people who should know better," writes James Duval. In general, marketing is focused on building interest in a company's product by reaching out to a large audience of potential customers, Duval writes. In contrast, sales is about converting that interest into a sale and is done on a one-to-one basis, he writes.
