Work on Goethals Bridge, a P3 project, will start this year

04/29/2013 | Staten Island Advance (N.Y.)

Construction of the Goethals Bridge between New Jersey and New York's Staten Island is expected to begin this year. NYNJ Link Partnership, which was awarded the contract by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, will finance the project and be repaid with interest over 40 years. There will be three traffic lanes in each direction, a 12-foot-wide outer shoulder, and space in the middle on the north side of the bridge for an eventual bus or high-occupancy-vehicle lane or light rail.
