A recent New York Times editorial that criticizes the Transparent Airfares Act fails to look out for consumers' interests, Airlines for America CEO Nicholas Calio writes in this letter to the editor. "The Transparent Airfares Act will give travelers more information about the significant federal government-imposed costs associated with air travel -- roughly $19 billion paid by airlines and customers annually. Consumers deserve to know that these costs come from the government, not the airlines," Calio writes.
