Central obesity was associated with increased odds of metabolic syndrome onset in children, according to an Indian study in The Journal of Pediatrics. The findings underscore the importance of lifestyle changes in younger patients to reduce the risk of metabolic disorders including hypertension and diabetes, researchers noted.
