Inflammatory activity of epicardial adipose tissue and atrial fibrillation

This study concluded that inflammatory activity of epicardial adipose tissue reflected by standardized uptake value is higher in atrial fibrillation patients than in controls. Inflammatory activity of epicardial adipose tissue adjacent to the left atrium, atrioventricular groove and left main artery is greater than in subcutaneous or visceral thoracic tissue.
