States take steps to promote career and technical education

New pathways for career and technical education are being paved across the 50 states, according to recent reports. Data show nearly 80 substantive policy changes -- legislation, state board rules and executive orders -- were issued in 2013 to promote career and technical education. Such changes often involve creating avenues for schools to work with business and industry, said Jennifer Dounay Zinth, a senior policy analyst at the Education Commission of the States.
