Highway bill hits another roadblock

Although lawmakers managed to pass a two-month funding extension, Republican legislators and the White House yesterday failed to agree on a final dollar amount for a long-delayed highway and transit bill. The Bush administration has threatened it would veto anything higher than $256 billion, which is less than both the House and Senate versions of the bill.
