Study: Biomarkers could precede type 2 diabetes in women

A new study suggests women at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes can be identified by biomarkers of abnormal cells that line blood vessels and the heart. The discovery lends credence to the theory that cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes follow endothelial dysfunction, which can be a type of precursor to diabetes, increasing options for preventing and treating the problem.
