Teens, backhoes make beautiful music together

The national average age of a construction worker is 48, and as hundreds of thousands of workers approach retirement age, the industry and the government are teaming up to attract more youth to the profession. High school students in northeastern New York got to try the controls of cement mixers, bulldozers and other construction equipment at a career event that industry leaders hope will show teens that construction is an interesting, high-paying profession.
