Opinion: Health IT can transform health care system

Today's "open source" society and willingness to collaborate are essential pieces of an improved health care system, says Dr. Jeffrey Rideout, chief medical officer and vice president of Cisco Systems' Internet Business Solutions Group. The electronic sharing of information will allow physicians quicker access to a broader base of information that could translate to better patient care and more evidence-based care and will allow researchers more analysis and collaboration to speed the development of new treatments.
