Collection of cord blood in U.K. to be closely regulated

The Human Tissue Authority in the U.K. has announced new rules governing the collection of cord blood at the time of birth. "There is clear evidence from the NHS Cord Blood Bank that collection conditions can influence the likelihood of stem cells being obtained from the umbilical cord blood samples collected," said an expert who welcomed the new rules.
