Progress on stimulus package gets good marks from House committee

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee held a hearing this week to discuss progress made on the stimulus plan. Most lawmakers expressed their approval but noted that the plan is still in its early stages. "With a few exceptions, I am very pleased with the progress that has been made in the first 10 weeks since enactment of the Recovery Act, but it is just a beginning," Committee Chairman James Oberstar, D-Minn., said. Work had already started on 263 highway and transit projects by the end of March.
