Transforming a high-performing company: An interview with Roberto Setubal

Radically changing a company's management culture is never easy, much less when the company is in the middle of years of double-digit growth, yet CEO Roberto Setubal of Brazilian banking giant Itaú Unibanco did just that. Setubal says he realized the company's top-down leadership style was no longer producing the best decisions, so he set out to force managers to consult with their workers. Setubal says the key to winning over the skeptics was leading by example and delegating some authority himself, showing the shift was in effect at every level of the organization.
