Survey: Women step sideways to get equity

Most female partners receive equity by taking lateral transfers to other firms, rather than by waiting to receive a promotion, a survey shows. The survey also found that almost 8% of female partners who had been de-equitized said the cause was their low billable hours and their firms' desire to boost profits per equity partner.
