Chevron Phillips Chemical said that it will construct two planned polyethylene facilities near its Sweeny complex in Old Ocean, Texas. The company is investing approximately $5 billion in the expansion project, which is expected to generate roughly 400 direct jobs and 10,000 construction and engineering jobs. "These polyethylene facilities would be the first ethylene derivative units to be constructed in Old Ocean. ... In addition, constructing polyethylene infrastructure at Old Ocean better positions the location for potential future investments," said Chevron Phillips President and CEO Peter Cella.
