Microsoft plans to invest $300M in Barnes & Noble's Nook unit

Microsoft agreed to invest $300 million for a 17.6% stake in Barnes & Noble's Nook division. The deal includes an interest in the retailer's college business and the growing area of educational e-books. The companies will develop a Nook application for Windows 8, Microsoft's next operating system.
